Expand Your Wine Horizons Past 7 PM

A short drive north from the Bay Area lies downtown Napa — a lively gateway city with a burgeoning wine-tasting scene. With world-class dining, live music venues and more than 20 tasting rooms (many of which stay open beyond 7 PM), the nighttime downtown experience is not to be missed. JaM Cellars Wine and Music Studio

With an eclectic, music-driven wine vibe and leather couches and booths from which to choose, you’ll no doubt be able to groove with friends while tasting JaM Cellars Studio’s delicious sampling of wines. Featuring live music every Thursday and Friday night, you can enjoy wines by the flight, glass or bottle, in addition to a tasty menu of plates and small bites.

John Anthony Vineyards

Whether you’d prefer to sit at the bar or schedule a VIP tasting, your country-luxe experience at John Anthony Vineyards tasting room will be special. The John Anthony tasting salon features small-vineyard current releases and library samplings from the Oak Knoll District, Carneros and Coombsville regions. Daytime vineyard experiences are also available, with curbside Escalade service from Archer Hotel.

Krupp Brothers Tasting Room Downtown

Jan and Bart Krupp founded their Stagecoach vineyard in 1999 and have produced remarkable wines born from red, rocky volcanic soil ever since. Near the Oxbow Public Market, the Krupp Brothers Tasting Room offers signature flights with small bite pairings. You can also enjoy wines by the glass or bottle.

Wines on First

J. McClelland Cellars and pureCru are the wineries of Wines on First in downtown Napa. These two distinctive wineries focus production on small lots of Napa Valley wines that are bright, complex and well-balanced. The tasting room accommodates 14 people seated and up to 40 for special events.

St. Clair Brown Winery and Brewery

The Greenhouse Tasting Room is across the street from the winery and micro-brewery, in the middle of the St. Clair Brown culinary garden. Choose a guided wine tasting or simply enjoy the garden (aka edible landscape) with a glass or bottle of handcrafted wine or one of three beers on tap, plus a snack from a select garden menu.

Vermeil Wines

Born and raised in Calistoga, Dick Vermeil (yes, that Dick Vermeil) inherited his love of wine from his father, Jean Louis, who brought the family to Northern California, and his grandfather Albert, who made all the Vermeil Family wines with grapes from the same properties involved in the current offerings. The tasting room has outdoor seating available in the warmer months.
