Princess peach in “The Super Mario Bros. movie”
Leave it to the fine, fun folks at Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar to dream up a cocktail based on a popular video game franchise. The inspiration for the May edition of 12 Months of Cocktails is Princess Peach Toadstool — introduced in the 1985 “Super Mario Bros.” game.
Princess Peach is one of the most well-known female characters in the history of video games. At once a damsel in distress and a magical protagonist, Princess Peach has been noted by The New York Times as having grit as well as grace. She made Forbes magazine’s Wealthiest Fictional People list in 2007. And the 2023 film adaption depicts her more as a strong-willed mentor to Mario, assisting on their quest to save a kidnapped Luigi.
The Recipe
Sky & Vine’s talented team created the Mario’s Girl cocktail. This beauty includes New Amsterdam peach vodka and RumHaven coconut rum, adds in Lo-Fi gentian amaro and charred pineapple and tops it off with a coconut-peach foam and edible flower.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces peach vodka
- 1/3 ounce coconut rum
- 1/3 ounce Lo-Fi gentian amaro
- 1 ounce lime juice
- 2 1/2 cups peach purée
- 6 ounces brown sugar simple syrup
- 2 gelatin sheets
- 1 cup coconut milk
- Edible flower
Directions
To a shaker, add first 4 ingredients. Fill with ice and shake well. Double-strain into a coupe glass. Top with peach foam (see below) and edible flower.
For peach foam, bring peach purée and simple syrup to a boil. Chill in cold water. Add 2 gelatin sheets. Beat in coconut milk.
