Napa Valley Film Festival 2017

NVFF Happenings in Downtown Napa

Downtown Napa is pleased to be a part of the seventh annual Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) November 8 - 12, welcoming filmmakers, film crews, actors and attendees to the valley. With five days of 100+ independent film screenings, more than 300 attending filmmakers, actors, directors, producers and industry executives, plus celebrity tributes, nine screening venues and 150+ wineries and 50+ chefs participating, NVFF attendees have a whirlwind of programs and events from which to choose — many of which are conveniently located in downtown Napa.

BLUE NOTE NAPA

Start the festival experience on a good note: In partnership with the Napa Valley Film Festival, Blue Note Napa will feature two performances by Dennis Quaid and The Sharks as part of the festival’s Sneak Preview Night. The band plays original songs and cover tunes, all with a rock ‘n’ roll and country-soul sound (November 7).

UPTOWN THEATRE

The Award Ceremony, held at Napa’s 850-seat Uptown Theatre, will reveal the winners of the Juried and Audience Awards. Each winner will receive a large-format collectible wine bottle from one of the NVFF Vintner Circle partners. In addition, the winners of the Best Narrative Feature and Best Documentary Feature will each take home a check for $10,000, courtesy of Meadowood Napa Valley (November 11). The Uptown is also the host venue for many of the festival’s films and red-carpet studio sneak previews (November 8 - 12).

Films at the Uptown Theatre:

  • “Back to Burgundy”

CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICAN (CIA) AT COPIA THEATER

Directly after the Award Ceremony is the glamorous Festival Gala, held at the CIA at Copia. Gala highlights include cuisine from some of the valley’s prominent culinarians; copious cocktail and wine bars; surprising entertainment and multiple musical acts; a Stella Artois beer garden and Timber Cove Resort lounge; interactive exhibits and photo booths; and a special Culinary Theater lounge hosted by Vintage Wine Estates, Cambria Stone Surfaces, Whole Foods, Essentia and Hangar 1 vodka. Attendees with a Pass Plus or Patron Circle Members can expect to mingle among attending filmmakers and celebrity guests at this blowout event (November 11). A select number of individual tickets for this not-to-be-missed event are available.

The CIA at Copia is also hosting Variety’s 10 to Taste, an NVFF-exclusive event for Patron Circle members, that shows off Rising Star Chefs’ innovative dishes paired with iconic films. After the tasting, a panel — including a celebrity chef, actor and film director — discusses the shared dishes, culinary trends and the role of food in film (November 9).

The Napa Valley Film Festival hosts daily “Intermissions” at 3 - 5 PM for passholders to enjoy extraordinary wine tastings and local music. The venue also plays host to 13 Culinary Demonstrations presented by food and wine experts, as well as filmmakers, who collaborate to share their creativity and mouthwatering insights — and samples — with the audience (November 9 - 12, with one additional “preview” demo on November 8).

Passholders and rush ticket holders can enjoy an impressive film lineup at the Copia Theater (240 seats); fun to note is that many of the films are about food, wine and culinary trends
