The Giving Drink AKB Hotel Bar

The Inspiration

“Everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts.”

The mantra of #GivingTuesday strikes a chord all year long — and particularly around the holidays. In 2022, our very own Patrick Ocampo, lead bartender at AKB Tysons, created this festive Giving Drink cocktail as a nod to the global generosity movement. Available during the 2022 holiday season at all AKB hotel bars (six across the Archer Hotel collection), $2 per drink went to No Kid Hungry, an organization on a mission to help end childhood hunger in the United States.

The Giving Drink at AKB Archer Hotel Tysons

The Recipe

Save our original Giving Drink recipe (makes a batch with 50 servings) and make it at home. And this season, visit any AKB for a new Giving Drink concoction. For the 2023 holidays, we’re mixing it up by asking the talented barkeep at each AKB hotel bar to create a version just for their locale.
Cheers to toasting with family and friends!

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 liter house bourbon
  • Whipped cream
  • Powdered cinnamon
  • Flamed rosemary sprigs
  • Edible gold flakes

Directions

  1. In a large pot, bring the first four ingredients to a rolling boil. Add the bourbon and remove from the stove. Pour the liquid into a thermos to keep it warm and ready to dispense.

  2. Pour the liquid into a coupe glass. Top with whipped cream, powdered cinnamon, a rosemary sprig flamed with a kitchen torch and a sprinkle of gold flakes.
