The Inspiration
A Cocktail Napkin
Sometimes cocktail napkins are just napkins. And sometimes napkins are condensation-ringed, serendipitous callings from the cosmic unknown — inviting you to take inventory of your complicated, wonderful day. Archer knows the magic in all of it. So, as a muse to those moments, we invited our talented bar teams to create 12 Months of Cocktails inspired by our beloved napkin series.
The Recipe
Indulge in an herbal spin on the timeless piña colada by cocktail artisan Paige D'Agostino at Archer Hotel Burlington. With a minty chartreuse finish, this concoction whispers the question, “What's next?”, inspired by a sun-drenched June moment and musing on one of Archer's cocktail napkins.
HISTORY: Born in the sun-kissed streets of San Juan, Puerto Rico, the delightful piña colada cocktail is hailed as the national drink and owes its name to its Spanish roots, eloquently translating to “strained pineapple.”
MAKE AHEAD: In the world of bartending, a “float” denotes the final, gentle addition of liquid atop a crafted cocktail. For this recipe's signature touch, gently muddle fresh mint leaves, combine with Chartreuse liqueur and refrigerate overnight. Using a blender, mix thoroughly then fine strain to remove particles.
Ingredients
- 1 ounce Lagavulin 8 year old single malt scotch whisky (or similar scotch)
- 1 ounce Avèze gentian liqueur
- 1/2 ounce lime juice
- 1/2 ounce So Real coconut cream
- 1/2 ounce pineapple juice
- Fresh mint leaves
- Chartreuse liqueur
Directions
In a shaker, combine the scotch, gentian liqueur, lime juice, coconut cream and pineapple juice. Dry shake (without ice). Double strain in a hurricane glass. Add ice. Float min blasted chartreuse on top. Garnish with your choice of fresh mint leaves, green wheat, floral, pineapple or torched coconut.
Cheers!
