Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic

Ring in Independence Day with Austin’s favorite son, Willie Nelson. The local rocker has spent the last 42-years hosting his ideal party with live music, cold beer, and of course—fireworks. The infamous party has become one of the most anticipated concerts of the year—but it feels more like a backyard BBQ with friends.

H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert & Fireworks

Raise your flag at the largest Independence Day celebration in the state of Texas (and that’s saying something). 100,000 people, crowds covered in red, white and blue, and the Austin Symphony producing beautifully patriotic tunes. Be a local and walk, ride, or swim up to the popular Vic Mathias Shores before the concert kicks off at 8:30 PM.

Hill Country Galleria

Shop ‘til you drop this Independence Day at this shopping mall turned fairgrounds. Wander through the Galleria’s stores with their patriotic-themed discount signs before retreating to the parking lot/carnival for fair games, pop-up vendors and artists and even a petting zoo. Free admission and dog-friendly, this suburban setup is perfect for families.

Mount Bonnell

For nature's perfect seat, head to the tallest natural point in Austin. But, bring your hiking shoes, the stairs to the top will have you earning this reward. July Fourth Frontier Days Celebration Sertoma July Fourth Parade

Enjoy a perfect day at this family-friendly mini-festival. Enjoy an exuberant parade, carnival rides, and a jalapeno pepper eating contest before moving onto more competitive attractions. Sip on a frozen lemonade as you watch the Swifty Swine Pig Races or The Sam Bass Shootout. The firework show is stunning, but cozy up, the nights not over. Movies in the Park is hosting a special screening of The Lego Batman Movie.
