Archer Hotel Charleston Coming January 2027

Friends in low (country) places

For decades, The Ansonborough has been one of Charleston’s favorite places to stay. It’s the kind of hotel guests return to and locals recommend. On January 26, 2027, it joins the Archer Hotel collection.

This special Charleston hotel is a 1920 warehouse turned intimate inn, where heart pine beams and fire-red brick have aged the way only good things do. Just 45 rooms and suites, each with soaring wood-beam ceilings and space to spread out.

Step outside and you’re in one of America’s most-loved cities: a coastal town with more than 350 years of history. Wander past the pastel houses of Rainbow Row and the church steeples that earned Charleston the nickname “the Holy City.” Spend the day strolling King Street and the evening at one of the restaurants that put Charleston on the culinary map, then follow the salt air a few blocks to the harbor.

There’s so much to love about this place. We’re simply adding a few of our signature touches and sincere hospitality to an already-charming locale.

Counting down the days.

Fondly,

Archer

The hotel sits in the city’s historic district with so much to explore on foot. Start with a slow wander and a good lunch. Charleston rewards people who take their time.

More than you’ll have time for, which is a good excuse to come back. A few favorites within walking distance:

  • The City Market: a centuries-old market just around the corner, known for local makers and sweetgrass baskets.
  • King Street: Charleston’s main shopping street, lined with boutiques, galleries and restaurants.
  • Waterfront Park: harbor views, porch swings and the famous Pineapple Fountain.
  • Rainbow Row: the pastel houses you’ve seen on Instagram, even prettier in person.

Spring and fall get the most attention, and for good reason. Winter is Charleston’s best-kept secret, with mild days, shorter lines and easier dinner reservations. Our January debut is good timing.

Charleston International Airport (CHS) is about a 20-minute drive from the hotel.
