You've Come a Long Way 12 Months of Cocktails at AKB New York

The Inspiration
A Cocktail Napkin

Sometimes cocktail napkins are just napkins. And sometimes napkins are condensation-ringed, serendipitous callings from the cosmic unknown — inviting you to take inventory of your complicated, wonderful day. Archer knows the magic in all of it. So, as a muse to those moments, we invited our talented bar teams to create 12 Months of Cocktails inspired by our beloved napkin series.

Come a Long Way cocktail

The Recipe

With a festive, sparkling twist on the classic French 75 cocktail, Rafael Galdamez, lead bartender at Archer Hotel New York, shares the celebratory January cocktail — Come a Long Way. Its name is inspired by one of Archer's thought-provoking cocktail napkins.

A BIT OF HISTORY: The French 75 cocktail was created in Paris, as an homage to the French field gun, the soixante-quinze (75) — a symbol of hope during World War I. The recipe has had several iterations, but each was grounded in gin.

BEST ADVICE: A tall champagne flute (stemmed or stemless) is the best glass for a Champagne cocktail. This elegant, elongated vessel allows the bubbles to rise slowly — conserving the cocktail's effervescence and amplifying the visual experience.

Ingredients

2 ounces McQueen and The Violet Fog Ultraviolet Hibiscus Berry Flavored gin
3/4 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
4 ounces Nicolas Feuillatte champagne (or whatever your favorite may be)
2 blackberries

Directions

In a shaker, combine the gin, syrup and lemon juice. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well. Pour into a champagne glass. Top with champagne and garnish with a lemon skewered blackberry.
