Top 5 Spots to Watch Fourth of July Fireworks In New York City

A SPECTACULAR SKYLINE

If there were ever an ideal time to visit New York City, Fourth of July weekend is it. Manhattanites maximize their long weekends by fleeing to the calm of suburbia. Fewer crowds in the city means more space for you to enjoy the nation’s largest fireworks display, the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks.

There's something inspiring and patriotic about watching the fireworks in this city that had such a pivotal role in the founding of America. It’s almost impossible not to feel pride for this country. If you're heading into (or staying in) the city, check out our list of the best spots to see the show.

NOTE: Please double-check with specific locations about availability and views for this Fourth of July celebration.

Roof at Park South Hotel — A cash bar, canapés and an amazing view of the river — enough said. Tickets for entry are released each year in May and sell out quickly. Reserve your table at this popular rooftop spot. Plan on arriving early and enjoying various food stations created by executive chef Bryce Shuman before the show begins.

Gantry Plaza State Park — This 12-acre riverside park offers some of the best views of midtown Manhattan. With restored gantries, manicured gardens, basketball courts and playgrounds, it makes going early on July 4 something to look forward to. Watch the fireworks up close from one of the four piers.

Berry Park — This hip, huge Williamsburg rooftop has a laid-back party atmosphere. Skip the lower-level bars and head straight to the covered rooftop. Then, be a local and order the Huckleberry Lemonade and Park Fries. The hidden gem does have a limited riverside view, so arrive early and grab a seat. Rooftop tables are first come, first served.

FlyNYON Doors-Off Flight — Most people spend the night shuffling through crowds and inching through traffic. Instead, soar above the commotion and enjoy a bird's-eye view of the fireworks from a private helicopter. Rent one of their GoPro cameras and take a picture-perfect selfie with the firework-lit city as your backdrop. Then, test your skills and play Where’s Waldo with the city’s landmarks. Seats are limited, so book soon.

Signature Dinner Cruise Pier 61 — Put yourself right in the action and celebrate America with an unforgettable evening. Look up at the Statue of Liberty as lights crackle and streak across the sky. More than the breathtaking show, the service is what you’ll remember — creative craft cocktails, beer and wine, chef-prepared menus and, of course, you’re on a yacht! The night’s not free, but it is definitely money well spent.
