The Inspiration
A Cocktail Napkin
Sometimes cocktail napkins are just napkins. And sometimes napkins are condensation-ringed, serendipitous callings from the cosmic unknown — inviting you to take inventory of your complicated, wonderful day. Archer knows the magic in all of it. So, as a muse to those moments, we invited our talented bar teams to create 12 Months of Cocktails inspired by our beloved napkin series.
The Recipe
Marking a decade of hosting at Archer Hotel New York, our skilled mixologist Eddie Benitez, presents a May cocktail with a celebratory twist on the classic New York sour — Having a Moment. Crafted with a blend of 10-year-old tequila and port wine, elegantly served in a 10-ounce glass, this libation takes inspiration from the musing found on Archer's cocktail napkin. So apropos.
INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT: The velvety touch of an egg white elevates a cocktail, especially sours, which reach their peak when crafted with this secret ingredient — offering a delightful texture and sensation. Enhance the experience by creating a luscious foamy crown with a dry shake prior to adding ice.
TECHNIQUE: In the bartending lexicon, a “float” refers to a final liquid touch delicately applied atop a completed cocktail. Experts advise using an inverted bar spoon creating a subtle slope just above the glass for optimal precision.
Ingredients
2 ounces Patron 10 anos tequila
1/4 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce agave nectar
1 ounce egg white
1 ounce Graham's 10-year tawny port wine
Orange twist and cherry garnish
Directions
In a shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, agave nectar and egg white. Dry shake (without ice), then add ice and shake vigorously. Double strain in a 10-ounce coupe glass. Float one ounce port wine on top. Garnish with an orange twist and a cherry.
Cheers!
